The Warren Center now offers the premier intensive suit therapy method known as Therasuit. As the brainchild of Izabela and Richard Koscielny, two licensed physical therapists and the parents of a daughter with cerebral palsy, Therasuit offers a holistic approach to helping children with conditions like cerebral palsy and other developmental disorders. The Therasuit program uses a balanced combination of exercises and equipment in order to improve posture, balance, flexibility, and range of motion for children with neurological disorders.

What are the Potential Benefits of Therasuit?
[/center]
Therasuit helps align the body through a system of pulleys, elastic bands, and supports. It is a soft dynamic proprioceptive orthotic that helps correct posture while providing the weight support or appropriate resistance needed to successfully complete everyday activities.
Potential benefits of using Therasuit include the following:
- Retraining and support of the central nervous system (CNS)
- Increased proprioceptive input (pressure from the joints, ligaments and muscles) to boost body awareness
- Improved sensory processing
- Normalized or improved muscle tone
- Better external stabilization and support of weak muscles
- Enhanced posture and body alignment
- Increased endurance
- Reduction of uncontrolled movements among children with ataxia and athetosis
- Improved balance and coordination
- Facilitation of proper movement patterns
- Corrected gait patterns
- Provision of tactile stimulation for individuals with sensory issues
- Greater spatial awareness
- Improved bone density
- Development of gross motor and fine motor skills
Parents and caregivers may also have the opportunity to observe and learn more about the use of Therasuit during physical therapy sessions. Contact us for more information on how Therasuit can benefit your child.
